Dewandakwahjatim.com, Surabaya – We just left the month of Ramadan 1446 H, right 8 days ago. For one month, we galvanize ourselves by fasting for a full month with hopes we can become righteous human beings or Insan Muttaqin in Arabic.
In accordance with Surah Al Baqarah, letter 2, verse 183.
Al-Baqarah 2:183
يَآأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ كُتِبَ عَلَيۡكُمُ ٱلصِّيَامُ كَمَا كُتِبَ عَلَى ٱلَّذِينَ مِن قَبۡلِكُمۡ لَعَلَّكُمۡ تَتَّقُونَ
O you who have believed, decreed upon you is fasting as it was decreed upon those before you that you may become righteous –
In essence, fasting is not just holding back eating and drinking but fasting also holds negative passions, eg: lust of anger, envy, miser, arrogant, etc.
Among the signs of pious or righteous people is able to withstand anger, be patient and easily forgive the mistakes of other people.
Remember Surah Al Imran, letter 3, verse 133-135.
Aal-e-Imran 3:133
۞وَسَارِعُوٓاْ إِلَىٰ مَغۡفِرَةࣲ مِّن رَّبِّكُمۡ وَجَنَّةٍ عَرۡضُهَا ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتُ وَٱلۡأَرۡضُ أُعِدَّتۡ لِلۡمُتَّقِينَ
And hasten to forgiveness from your Lord and a garden [i.e., Paradise] as wide as the heavens and earth, prepared for the righteous
Aal-e-Imran 3:134
ٱلَّذِينَ يُنفِقُونَ فِي ٱلسَّرَّآءِ وَٱلضَّرَّآءِ وَٱلۡكَٰظِمِينَ ٱلۡغَيۡظَ وَٱلۡعَافِينَ عَنِ ٱلنَّاسِۗ وَٱللَّهُ يُحِبُّ ٱلۡمُحۡسِنِينَ
Who spend [in the cause of Allāh] during ease and hardship and who restrain anger and who pardon the people – and Allāh loves the doers of good;
Aal-e-Imran 3:135
وَٱلَّذِينَ إِذَا فَعَلُواْ فَٰحِشَةً أَوۡ ظَلَمُوٓاْ أَنفُسَهُمۡ ذَكَرُواْ ٱللَّهَ فَٱسۡتَغۡفَرُواْ لِذُنُوبِهِمۡ وَمَن يَغۡفِرُ ٱلذُّنُوبَ إِلَّا ٱللَّهُ وَلَمۡ يُصِرُّواْ عَلَىٰ مَا فَعَلُواْ وَهُمۡ يَعۡلَمُونَ
And those who, when they commit an immorality or wrong themselves [by transgression], remember Allāh and seek forgiveness for their sins – and who can forgive sins except Allāh? – and [who] do not persist in what they have done while they know.
After leaving the month of Romadhon, after we won jihad against lust for one month, our struggle has not been completed.
A friend of Rasulullah asks for Rasullullah SAW, “Ayyuhannas Afdhollu, O Messenger of Allah?
Rasullullah answered, “Mukminuna yujahidu di sabillillah bi mnafs wa Maal”.
(“A believer who won jihad with soul and wealth”.
We are still required to fight throughout life.
Remember Surah As Saff, Surah (Letter) 61, Verse 10 – 11
As-Saf 61:10
يَآأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ هَلۡ أَدُلُّكُمۡ عَلَىٰ تِجَٰرَةࣲ تُنجِيكُم مِّنۡ عَذَابٍ أَلِيمࣲ
O you who have believed, shall I guide you to a transaction that will save you from a painful punishment?
As-Saf 61:11
تُؤۡمِنُونَ بِٱللَّهِ وَرَسُولِهِۦ وَتُجَٰهِدُونَ فِي سَبِيلِ ٱللَّهِ بِأَمۡوَٰلِكُمۡ وَأَنفُسِكُمۡۚ ذَٰلِكُمۡ خَيۡرࣱ لَّكُمۡ إِن كُنتُمۡ تَعۡلَمُونَ
[It is that] you believe in Allāh and His Messenger and strive in the cause of Allāh with your wealth and your lives. That is best for you, if you only knew.
In a state of war, we must prepare to strive for our soul and body and in a state of peace we strive with our wealth.
If we have enough treasure and the haul is enough we must issue zakat.
If we have not been able to pay zakat, then we are discharged to give alms.
The law of Zakat is mandatory for those who are able, giving alms can be done by anyone. To give charity, we do not need to wait to be rich. We can give alms with a smile, charity with energy, thoughts, etc. In fact, we can give alms according to our abilities.
Allah SWT does not see how much we give (we infaq or spend) but Allah sees our sincerity.
Some one who speds 1 billion, is small if he is a trillionare, have the property of trillions.
Some one who earns 50 thousand or 100 thousand a day and he/she spends 5 thousand or 10 thousand for alms that’s a large value before Allah SWT.
CONCLUSION, we must strive throughout the life.
May Allah SWT bless all our pious deeds.
Taqobbalallahuminna wa minkum, shiyamana wa shiyamakum, taqobbal yaa kariim.
Aamiin yaa Robbal Aa’lamin
آمِــــــــــيْنَ يَا رَبَّ الْعَالَمِــــــــــيْنَ
